What is the Residential Interior Design Process?
Many past clients have asked me for detail on how I work, what they need to contribute and how the process involves. This is pretty lengthy, but goes through the many steps involved my work for you.
You may find it easier to print this document and read it at your leisure. I hope you will find it useful.
Initial Consultation Meeting
- Held at your home; usually takes 1-2 hours
- Get to know one another, the project & expectations
- Define your design style and functional needs
- Determine the scope of the project, timeline, goals & objectives
- Establish a preliminary budget range for all three components
- Budget for Interior Design Fee
- Budget for any contractor work (including allowances for material selections)
- Budget for furnishings
- Summarize your needs, issues to be solved & expected finished project
Contract Negotiations
- Held at your home; usually takes 1 hour
- Presentation of Proposal
- Presentation of Contract
- Questions, Discussion, Explanations
- Discussion of retainer requirement to begin work
